As a result of 2011 steelworkers‘ operative esults were negative

The total loss of metallurgists was 3.610 bln.

In early February, the leaders of the world steel industry reported its financial results for 2011 Arcelor Mittal company earned only $ 2.3 billion profit, up 22% modest results at the end of 2010 the company received $ 1 billion net loss. Korean Posco Profit for the year reached $ 3.4 billion, in connection with which the company has cut investment plans for 2012 at $ 0.5 billion on reducing profits and said the Chinese giant. High-tech Japanese companies also believe that their financial results will be more modest profit for 2010 at least 50%.

Annual results of Ukrainian Mining and can not be considered as satisfactory. The domestic steel industry worked in 2011 with losses. According to State Statistics Service, the cumulative loss industry was 3.610 billion USD.

According to statistics, in 2011 58.4% of the total Ukrainian metpredpriyatiy a profit of $ 9.273 bln. At the same time 41.6% of the total Ukrainian metpredpriyatiy received damages in the amount of 12.883 billion UAH.

By no means a brilliant final results of the MMC community prepared in advance. Back in October last year in  "Metallurgprom" said they expected growth of metal enterprises' loss due to low demand and prices for steel products.
Hope metallurgists to revive demand and "rebound" in prices in the fourth quarter did not materialize: steel traders poostereglis build stocks in the future due to a number of unfavorable economic factors. Because of this, prices for steel products declined substantially.

Prices for Ukrainian semi-finished product in foreign markets were often below the cost of production of slabs for the non-integrated metallurgical enterprises. At the beginning of January 2012 at seaports accumulated 1.362 million tons of Ukrainian metal.

On the financial condition adversely affected metal enterprises and unbalanced policies of the State Tax Service. In particular, companies corporation tax owed ISD 0.5 billion UAH. to recover value added tax, and «ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog" at the beginning of December 2011 received less than 2 billion USD. Of VAT. Said company and that the fiscals predispose them to overpayments of income tax. For some companies overpaid for this tax reach billions of marks.

In general, according to the OP "Metallurgprom" total return metpredpriyatiy last year was a negative - "minus" 1.7%.
Dnepropetrovsk metallurgical plant them. Petrovsky, a part of a group of "Eurasia", the first Ukrainian steel mills announced financial results for 2011, showing a net loss of $ 101 million

According to preliminary data, "Metallurgprom" positive pretax finrezultat last year showed four metal enterprises: Donetsk metallurgical plant (about 21 mln.), Alchevsk Iron and Steel (620 mln.) AMKR (nearly 2 billion USD.) And "DSS "(85 mln.).

The group "Metinvest", which manages some of the largest and metaktivami mine, according to industry analysts, most likely, has decided to focus a profit center in the mining business. Although, according to IR Dragon Capital, due to the presence of its own iron ore, tons of slab production costs in enterprises "Metinvest" lowest, at $ 450-460.

The negative trend of the last year remain valid for the first quarter of 2012 While at metall markets been creeping recession, which means unimportant  financial results in the I quarter of the year.

Admission of domestic coal at Coke in 2011 totaled 17.4 million tons, accounting for 96% of deliveries in 2010. Imports of ordinary coking coal and coal concentrate for coking in December amounted to 995 thousand tons. Imports of coking coal in 2011 increased compared to the year 2010 c 11% - to 10.4 million tons. Remains of coal in storage at the Coke January 1, 2011 totaled approximately 690 thousand tons.

As of January 1 to 28 companies operating blast furnaces of 36 (78%), 19 out of 21 converters (90%), 11 open-hearth furnaces of 21 (52%) and seven of the 15 furnaces (47%).

According to balance the distribution, production of pig iron in February fall compared with the planned production volume in January 0.8% - up to 2.350 million tons (average daily production - 81 thousand tons) of steel - by 1.1% to 2.790 million tonnes (96.2 tons), steel - by 0.4% to 2.500 million tons (86.2 tons).

According to the forecast based on the dynamics of financial activity from January to November, 2011 on the basis of steelmakers will have a negative financial result from ordinary activities before tax of around 3 billion hryvnia. The total return on metals plants at the end of last year will be "minus" 1.7%. "On the positive profitability in 2011, worked only two metpredpriyatiy - Alchevsk Iron and Steel and the" Arcelor Mittal Krivoy Rog "- said Kharakhulakh.

In 2012, domestic steel producers should be prepared for fierce competition in world markets. "Even if, as analysts say, in the second quarter will be a rise of consumption of the metal on the world market, the competition will be fierce. It must be remembered that the whole world today has worked with a large margin of safety (...). To stay on the market, you will need to withstand price competition. However, the Ukrainian ferrous metal continues to be one of the most material-and energy-intensive. Strengthening of market position in the future is only possible thanks to more efficient use of raw materials and energy, "- said the head of" Metallurgproma. "

According to the director of "Ukrpromvneshekspertizy" Vladimir Vlasyuk, as of January 4 harvesting cost 605 dollars per ton, fittings - $ 650 per ton rod - 665 dollars per ton, rolled - 685 dollars per ton, garyachekatanny roll - 565 dollars per ton , Cold - $ 675 per ton, a thick sheet of - 635 dollars per ton. According to experts, a significant price increase is still not happened, obviously, the price level continue throughout February.

The representative of the department of industrial policy at the Finance Ministry, Yuri Derkach encouraged by several metallurgists, saying that the department and the Ministry of Economy prompolitiki working on a program of development of the domestic market of steel products. "We draw up action plans, which will be filled with the program. Enterprises until February 1, should give their proposals for projects that will be implemented this year. By upgrading, energy saving, import substitution - this information will form the basis of the challenges that face the development of the internal market ", - Derkach says.

The increase in transhipment of strategic cargoes for the port of Odesa

According to the operative data of the main operation department of the port of Odesa in November 2172 tons of goods are handled, which are 21 per. more (378.2 tons) in comparison with the same period of 2010, among them dry cargo - 1418 tons, 605.2 tons, more (by 74.5 percent) than in November, last year.

Only for 11 months handling on berths was 23296.2 thousand tons, which is 930 thousand tons (4 percent) more in comparison with the same period of 2010, the expected net profit for January-November was 416, 3 million USD. that is 60.3 mln. more than for the same months in 2010.

Commenting on the results of November, the main operation department experts note a significant increase in transshipment of strategic goods for the company:
- Cereals - 498.7 thousand tons, + 412.2 thousand tons to the result of November 2010,
- Containers - 476.1 thousand tonnes, or 158.4 thousand tons more than during the same period in 2010,
- Metals: 242.5 thousand tons or 60.2 tons +

As analysts predicts, in recent months, following the abolition of export duties at the port of export crops has
grown significantly. Ore transhipment decreased slightly (by 3.5 thousand tons) comparing with the last year‘s November . This is due to lower demand for iron ore due to the falling world prices for metal and reduction of its production worldwide.

Oil cargo handled in the volume of 724.3 thousand tons, which was 215.3 thousand tons less than in November 2010. The reason: termination of handling of the Venezuelan and the Azeri oil to the port of Odesa.

The results of the company for 11 months bring hope that in 2011 the port of Odesa is going to finish with high performance.

Cruise tourism: to unleash the potential of Odesa

On November 16 at the port of Odesa, a press conference following season in 2011 was attended byhead of the port of Odesa, Yuri Vaskov, Honorary President of the port of Odesa Nikolai Pavlyuk, head of marine economic, transport and communications of the Odesa Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ilko, Head of Culture and Tourism of the Odesa City Council Tatyana Markova.

Note that this was the first press conference, which Yuriy Vaskov held as chief of the port. Summing up the season, Yuri, stressed that the key to this season is the increase in ship calls of cruise ships.

- This year, the port of Odesa 73 cruise ships visited - said Yu.Vaskov. - Passenger Complex has handled 33 lines, four of them are new - Iberocruseros, Variety Cruises, Voyages to Antigiuty, Zegrahm & Eco Expeditions. It is gratifying that of cruise ships visiting the port of Odesa, there were 9 new, previously not visited us. In addition, the ship calls was 49 vessels for river-sea. During the period of navigation in 2011 passenger terminal in the port handled about 122 thousand passengers, which is higher than last year.

In the tourist season, according to Y.Vaskov, as in previous, there was a trend of increasing dimensions of vessels entering the port. And next year, and this trend will continue. While in 2011 73 aircraft 25 has a length exceeding 200 m (with about 10 prots.-court more than 270 m), then declared for 2012, 67 ships under foreign flags, almost half (32 vessels) with a length of more than 200 m.

WHY 320 cruise ships have not crossed the Bosphorus.

-In connection with this problem, and the opportunity to serve such ships - continued Yu.Vaskov. - In this season have come to Istanbul 400 ships under foreign flag. In the Black Sea - only 73-75. Why are not more than 320 ships crossed the Bosphorus? The fact that ships longer than 200 m in the Black Sea are high quality and safe to take from domestic ports - Odesa and Romanian Constanta. Yalta, Sevastopol, Batumi, Sochi and the ports of Varna, unfortunately, to date do not have the infrastructure for safe and high quality reception of ships over 200 meters, not to mention the 300-meter. At the same time, cruise ships can not go to only one port on the Black Sea: they must attend at least three ports. This is a problem that we encountered, and which must be addressed.

In recent years, the port of Odesa has made every effort for the development of cruise passenger shipping in the Black Sea. Back in 2006 the Port Authority has developed a long-term program designed to attract the harbor as many ocean liners of the world's leading tour operators.
The first step in implementing the program was developed by the port resumed in 2008, the company's membership in the Association of Cruise Ports of Mediterranean and Black Seas «MedCruise». That same year, the port began a phased reconstruction of the piers of the New pier for receiving superliner large dimensions.
In autumn 2008 on the basis of the company was first organized the first International Conference «Black Sea Cruises», under which it was possible to organize a productive dialogue between representatives of the ports, tourism organizations, and international maritime agencies, cruise companies. Thanks to the forum, the Black Sea region has received high-quality advertising on the world market, which led to the expansion of further cooperation with the cruise companies to increase ship calls at the Black Sea. Then for the first time the port entered the harbor cruise ship longer than 294 meters - QUEEN VICTORIA. And in the same year the first time in nearly two decades has been served a record number of passengers - 136.3 thousand people.

The second conference - «Black Sea Cruises-2010" - has brought concrete results: for example, the vice-president of the company «Royal Caribbean International» John Tersek expressed the intention of the company to invest in the Ukrainian cruise ports to U.S. $ 120 million. Now, according to Yu.Vaskova, Vice-Premier, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov, a working group comprising representatives Mininfrastruktury, ports, and the Government of Crimea to sign an investment agreement for development of the port of Sevastopol and Yalta. In December the Cabinet decision to appear on the possibility of concluding the contract - a concession to these ports, which will open the way for a tender to select an investor.

Finally, another important event that will significantly affect the attraction of new cruise lines. In October of 2011 at the XXXIX General Assembly of the leading European cruise association «MedCruise», held in Montpellier (France), the chief port of Odesa, Yuri Vaskov was elected a director of the Black Sea Region Association «MedCruise». Given the large number of votes received Yuri Vaskova 3-year period went to the post of first vice-president of the association «MedCruise».

ODESSA PORT CAN BE A BASE ON THE BLACK SEA.

The recent election of the Chief of the port Y.Vaskov as the First Vice-President of the Association «MedCruise» was unaccidental.

Commenting on his choice, the leaders stressed the Mediterranean port of Odesa port active role in the development of cruise business in the Black Sea and close interaction with the neighboring Black Sea ports on the establishment of a common policy on cruise ships. It was also noted that in recent years, Ukraine has significantly improved the attractiveness of tourism, primarily due to a number of major infrastructure projects in preparation for football championship "Euro-2012".

Specificity of the cruise business is that the Black Sea ports are not rivals but partners: the more vessels will be involved in the Black Sea region, the more wins each of the ports. Given this reality of the port of Odesa this year, took the initiative to create a non-profit marketing project to promote Black Sea cruise lines, and creating a single brand of the Black Sea «Cruise Black Sea». In this case, the port has taken a leadership role to advocate on behalf of all Black Sea ports, including domestic, before the cruise companies.

All of these measures, according to Yu.Vaskova will help to ensure that the 320 passenger aircraft that are deployed in front of the Bosphorus, will prolong their cruise routes to the north. A port of Odesa can become the base on the Black Sea.
However, as noted Yu.Vaskov, there are also internal reasons constraining the development potential of Odesa as a tourist center.

- The problem in our region is the state of the Odesa airport. Specificity of the cruise business is that, despite the fact that the port of Odesa is a transit-passengers come and go in the courts - in accordance with international standards, the airport must meet cruise. To do this, the airport must be assessed by the cruise companies. The fact that his reconstruction is delayed, is a deterrent to attracting new cruise companies.

As noted T.Markova, city officials are well aware the responsibility entrusted to them. In order to adequately accommodate cruise ships, it is necessary "to use the enormous potential of Odesa, which is now not being used fully." To this end, the City Council created body (as long as he does not name), which will include representatives of all stakeholders in the development of tourism organizations and companies. "The development of tourism product - the work of professionals. They need to develop new routes for tourists, so they were interesting and informative for them. "

In 2012 at the Odesa port will be the third international conference «Black Sea Cruises». For its part, the port of Odesa with the active support of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Odesa regional state administration and city government is doing its utmost to develop the tourist potential of Odesa region.

"Import-40" has moved to the dry port

On October 3d at Dry port, which is operated by "Euroterminal" freight customs terminal (FCT) was launched. More correctly, its first stage. The project, implemented in cooperation with the Port of Odesa, required considerable time and efforts. In the establishment of FCT the company "Euroterminal" invested over 100 million UAH.

The FCT is located in the area of 3.6 ha, primarily intended for the customs clearance of containers in the Import-40 mode, which is primarily conducted by the Transit-Cargo Terminal (TCT) of the Port of Odesa. According to chief of TCT Vladimir Protsenko, removal of import customs clearance procedures in Dry port is a step forward, as "import containers clearance slowed down an increase in the volumes of container handling in the mode of inland and external transit. Over the next eighteen months we will be able to increase their volume by a half. "In addition, the clearance of containers in the Import-40 mode requires considerable territories, which are at Dry port.

THE SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY "BEHIND THE GLASS"

There are all regulatory authorities at FCT of Dry port, which operate on the "single window" principle.

- Location of supervisory authorities has been done in accordance with modern requirements, - director of "Euroterminal" Sergei Lisitsyn says, - on the principle of "single window". On the ground floor broker shall submit declaration, which, passing all supervisory services, shall be issued to him as a finished product. On the monitors installed the broker online can see where at the moment are his documents. Besides the whole process can be observed through a glass window. After that, if necessary, the driver moves to the scales or a container passes through the X-ray terminal "Rapiskan." Then the motor car moves to an inspection ramp, which has 15 entrances. At the increase in traffic another 5 entrances are going to be added, as well as an increase of the territory of FCT to 2 hectares, provided in the second stage of the SCT project.

As of today, the Freight Customs Terminal is operating under regular mode. Due to the introduction of the customs electronic declaration the time of vehicles stay in the territory has significantly decreased. At the entrance to Dry port the automatic scanning of numbers of cars that are in the database is established. The time of entry to the terminal takes between two to three minutes.
As with all new, maintenance of the process of imported container handling in Dry port requires a certain time. For example, the order of containers delivery from the territory of the port to Dry port. The last one, in     in distinction from the port of Odesa, is beyond the checkpoint. So now, in order to deliver a container from the checkpoint at the port to FCT, you need additional documents. "In the near future we will reach out for the simplified delivery of containers from the port. The car, moving over an overpass, cannot get anywhere, except Dry port "- S. Lisitsyn.

TO IMPLEMENT JOINT PROJECTS.

According to V. Protsenko, the administration of the port of Odesa has been a long time planning to transfer clearance of import containers outside the enterprise. As we see, their regisrtation requires more time than the inner and outer containers transit (PP/PD). In addition, there is a need in large territories, warehouses for the inspection of import. Dry port has all this. Thank to the transfer of containers in the Import-40 mode to in Dry port territories have been freed up, capacity has increased.

Dry port which has undertaken registration of containers in the Import-40 mode, according to S. Lisitsyn, acquired a special status. "By creating of a comfortable conditions for freight forwarders and brokers, we attract additional freight traffic. This, in turn, is beneficial for our partner - the port of Odesa, - said S. Lisitsyn. - On the other hand, the more container cargo port handles, the more  loading we have".

Thus "Euroterminal" management all the time responding to market demand. Main task is to take care that the clients receive maximum service in Dry port - from the customs procedures, completing storage of their goods in a warehouse until the time they are demanded.

THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE.

Dry port is developing in several directions: the further development of Freight Customs Terminal, optimization of the existing transit storage ground (TSG), construction of a railway, construction of a petrol station, development of warehouse and other facilities. At the same time the doors of "Euroterminal" always open to potential partners for further joint development of multimodal logistics center "Dry port".

The long-term development plan of "Euroterminal" provides creation of a new road "Hadzhibey-2", which the company intends to implement with the assistance of other investors and with the support of the Odesa city authorities. This road will connect the territory of Dry port with the District circuit. It will be constructed almost in parallel to the existing Hadzhibey road that is closed to traffic of freight transport. The new road will withdraw all heavy-haul transport outside the city. After the construction of roads, according to S. Lisitsyn, straddle carriers and other trucks, bypassing the city will be able to move to Dry port. Here, goods can be unloaded at a warehouse, and then in small machines such as "Gazelle" delivered to consumers. This scheme works in Europe. From the viewpoint of environmental preservation of Odesa implementation of this project is of great importance.
