Landowners of Ukraine can gather 53-54 million tons of grain this year - S.Arbuzov

Due to good crop capacity, which currently is at the level of 23 c /ha compared to 16c/ha in 2012, Ukraine's farmers could harvest up to 54 million tons of grain. This has announced on July 1the First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.


"Today, there are strong grounds for believing that this harvest will become one of the largest in the years of independence. Ministry of Agrarian Policy contributes to the fact that the farmers were provided with high quality seeds, fertilizers, fuels and lubricants, as well as modern harvesting equipment", - said S.Arbuzov.


He noted that the government is now strongly promotes efficient harvesting campaign.


Recall that in 2011 farmers harvested a record crop over the years of independence - 56 million tons of grain, in 2012 - 46 million tons.


South Korea purchased Black Sea wheat

According to market operators, South Korea within the frameworks of the tender has purchased 60 thousand tons of the Black Sea origin wheat.


Grain purchase price was $274 per ton FOB. Supply of the products to importer may be conducted in two batches - from August 27 to September 15 this year.


Recall that in the previous tender the South Korea company KFA has purchased 53 thousand tons of wheat of Concordia operator at the price of $290 per ton C&F.

Trade turnover between Ukraine and Georgia in 2013 will exceed $1 billion, said the Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Vilkul during the 8th Meeting of the oint Ukrainian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Tbilisi (Georgia).


"Georgia is a strategic partner of Ukraine. In 2012 the trade turnover between Ukraine and Georgia reached nearly $800 million. This year’s task is to exceed 1 billion USD"- said A.Vilkul.


Besides, participants of the meeting discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector. It was noted the need to continue development of relations on mutual benefit and enhance the exchange of experiences in the field of crops, livestock and land relations.


"80% of exports from Ukraine to Georgia are agriculture products. Georgian imports to Ukraine nearly 70% consists of agricultural products. This strong trend should be developed. Ukraine and Georgia discussed the possibility of support at the level of governments, entrepreneurs, farmers in both countries", - said A.Vilkul.


Crop capacity in Ukraine increased by 43%

Ukraine as of June 25, gathered early grain and leguminous crops from 943 thousand hectares, threshed 2.19 million tons of grain, Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.


The average grain yield in the country totaled 23.2 c/ha compared to 16.2 c/ha on the same date last year (up 43%).


In particular, winter barley threshed on 581 thousand hectares, with crop capacity of 24.8 c/ha, winter wheat capacity totaled 21.7 c/ha and harvested 687 thousand tons. Spring barley threshed on the territory of 21 thousand hectares, with a capacity of 12.3 c/ha, harvested 26 thousand tons.


In addition, farmers harvested 29 million tons of peas from 23 hectares (capacity of 12.9 c/ha) and 90 thousand tons of winter rapeseed from 62 thousand ha (capacity of14.5 c/ha).


Compliance of seafarers' training in educational centers of Ukraine to international and national requirements is strictly controlled by the state

Only in the case of full compliance with the requirements of Manila amendments to the International Convention of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, and other international and national requirements, the center for seafarers’ tarining will be included in the list of approved enterprises. Ukrmorrechinspektsiya will strictly adhere to this approach during inspections of the centers and preparation of proposals to the Ministry of Infrastructure, which will also focus their attention on it while approving the list of training centers. This was discussed during a meeting between the heads of training centers and Ukrmorrechinspektsya to improve the training of seafarers and to bring it into line with the Convention's requirements.

Measures to improve training on transportation of dangerous cargoes by sea were also discussed. The representatives of the Shipping Register of Ukraine reported on certification of training facilities and quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the rules I/8 of the Convention, with amendments.

In addition, experts of the Ukrmorrechinspektsya informed about the results of inspections of training centers conducted in 2013 to assess compliance of training of seafarers with the requirements of the Convention, resolutions and other documents of the International Maritime Organization, as well as national requirements. In particular, attention was focused on a common shortcomings identified during inspections of such establishments.



The government supported simplification of customs procedures for container cargoes by rail on the station "Odesa - LISKI"

Pioneered by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine customs clearance procedures at the border crossings for container rail transportations will be simplified. The relevant draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On Amendments to the Order f the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 8, 2009 № 381" was adopted at a Cabinet meeting on June 19.

According to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladimir Kozak, current customs control of container cargoes is carried out twice: at checkpoints in Odesa, Iyichevck and Yuzhniy sea ports and control point "Odesa-LISKI". In addition, the movement of goods between checkpoints of sea ports and border control "Odesa-LISKI” is carried out in "transit" mode and the submission of the customs declaration. All this reduces the effectiveness of the processing of such goods.


"The proposed changes will enable to carry out the pass and customs clearance of cargoes in containers by rail on the territory of container terminal of railway station "Odesa - LISKI" once only, - said Vladimir Kozak.


The order will come into force from the date of publication.


Bill on protection of investments in agricultural sector to be drafted in Ukraine

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine intends to draft a bill on protection of investments in the agricultural sector. This was announced on June 19th by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Nikolay Prisyazhnyuk, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy informs.


In particular, he said that the document will provide the most favorable conditions for investments in the agriculture sector.


N.Prisyazhnyuk also stressed that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is constantly in talks with potential investors interested to invest in the domestic agricultural sector, including livestock.


Recall that foreign direct investments in agriculture in Ukraine in 2012 increased by 6.4% compared to 2011.


Ukrainian iron ore exports increased by 15.1%

In January-May 2013, Ukrainian export of iron ore amounted to 16.4 million tons, which is 2.15 million tons or 15.1% more than in the same period last year.


This was stated in the message of "Ukrpromvneshekspertiza", UGMK.INFO reports.


According to the report, the main regions of growth are China, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which together provided growth by 2.9 million tons in exports, while shipments to Poland, Hungary and Serbia decreased by0.9 million tons.


So, the supplies to the metallurgical plants in Ukraine have not changed: 18.79 million tons in the five months of 2013 compared to 18.93 million tons in the same period of 2012.


Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM decided to make an alliance

Shipping container carriers Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM agreed to establish an alliance for the transportation of cargo in the East-West direction. The alliance will be established for the long term outlook and will be called P3 Network. This is stated in companies’ joint press release.

With P3 Network they hope to improve and optimize transport operations. The alliance will include 255 ships with total capacity of 2.6 million TEU. They will serve three areas: Asia-Europe, transpacific and transatlantic routes. "P3 Network will provide consumers a more stable, frequent and flexible services", - stated in a press release.


Although the management of the ships will be carried out in a joint center of the alliance, the companies will remain independence t in marketing strategy, customer service, as well as in the matter of selling their services.


As noted, the combined route network will reduce the risks of voyages cancellations for customers. Through joint efforts the companies intend to increase the load of ships, which will positively impact on their commercial efficiency.


EU and United States create a free trade zone

Leaders of the United States and the leading countries of the European Union within the framework of the G8 summit in the Northern Ireland have officially announced the launching of negotiations on creation a transatlantic free trade area, writes the website "Kommersant-Online".


"Today is a special day in relations between the EU and USA. We are announcing the launching of negotiations on the agreement on transatlantic partnership in trade and investment spheres - said the President of European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso at the joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron and U.S. President Barack Obama. - We intend to move quickly in the direction of the agreement".


According to Barack Obama, the first round of negotiations will be held in Washington next month.

The broad support on both sides of the Atlantic ocean will help the parties to resolve complex issues", - said the US President. According to him, foreign trade agreement between the EU and the U.S. will support hundreds of thousands of jobs.


According to Cameron, such an agreement may be the largest bilateral trade deal in the history of the world and will have a significant impact on world trade than any other international agreement together.


Israel purchased Ukrainian barley

According to market operators, as part of the tender, Israel has contracted to import 9 million tons of fodder barley Black Sea origin. The traders believe that the grain will be delivered from Ukraine.


Purchase price of product totaled $267-269 per ton C&F. Delivery of barley to importer is scheduled for July this year.

Recall that, according to the latest report of IGC analysts, in 2013/14 MY Israel will imports 0.4 million tons of barley, which corresponds to the result of last year.
